Food for Thought & Dial-a-Ride

This September, we are hoping to give over some time at our Food for Thought meeting to talk about the County Council's proposals to end funding for the vital Dial-a-ride service. The meeting will take place on 2/9/2015 from 18:30 to 20:00 at West Oxford Community Centre, in the lovely Cafe. You can download the flier here. There will be free vegetarian food, but please let us know if you'd like some (so we can cook the right amount).

This is something of a first for us. We don't usually have themes for Food for Thought meetings - people just turn up and talk about what they want. We have had visitors from local charities and support providers, and they sometimes take a few minutes to ask about things they're interested in, but there's never any pressure to join in the conversation if you don't want to. This time, we want to talk about the current proposals to end funding for Dial-a-Ride. This is a service that's well used my many of our regulars, who themselves organised a campaign to improve the bookings system. So we know there's likely to be a lot of interest.

Elsewhere we wrote our own response to the Council's proposals. We haven't got all the answers - we know the Council is in a tight spot financially. We want to collect a range of views about Dial-a-Ride and get them to the Council before the consultation ends on 14th September. If you think you might come along, please let us know. If you want to help us publicise the event, you can can download the flier here.
